PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

We wish to clarify that Okey Vitalis Nnorom, also known as Michael, a Nigerian
national and one of the participants in the Omar Al Mokhtar Flotilla, which sailed
alongside the Global Freedom Flotilla, remains in detention, despite earlier reports
suggesting that he had been handed over to the Nigerian Embassy in Jordan.
The occupation authorities have deliberately manipulated information regarding the
detainees and misled lawyers and legal representatives about their actual situation.
Michael is still being held alongside three Moroccan nationals, one Algerian national,
and one Spanish national. Earlier reports about the release of all activists were
inaccurate, and we express our deep concern for his safety and the safety of the other
detainees.
We call on all supporters, human rights advocates and concerned individuals to contact
local Nigerian embassies and demand urgent action for Michael’s release. His
continued detention is unacceptable and requires an immediate and coordinated
diplomatic response.
The Global Freedom Flotilla and Omar Al Mokhtar Flotilla sailed in solidarity with the
Palestinian people, aiming to break the illegal siege on Gaza and deliver essential
humanitarian aid. The abduction of peaceful activists must be condemned
internationally.
We urge the Nigerian government and the Libyan government to act without delay to
ensure the immediate and safe release of Okey Vitalis Nnorom.
